These rules take effect for cases filed after May 1, 2010. It is anticipated that there will be a "Town Hall" meeting on April 29, 2010, at 4:00 p.m. in the jury assembly room to discuss the implementation of the new rules. Click here for full details. PICNIC 2010 ANOTHER SUCCESS The only thing that could have made it better would have been cooler weather.
The Annual Bar Plan Softball Game was very competitive in spite of the heat. Judge Bob Cohen's team walked away with a victory and the coveted trophy. The picnic was once again a resounding success because of the support, work, and contributions of so many. Thanks to all of you who contributed! A special thanks goes out to all of the court clerks, court personnel, support staff, deputy sheriff's, sheriff's department, and security at the courthouse. Without YOU, the wheels of justice would come to a screeching halt. After the first of the year, start looking for and marking down the date for the picnic in June 2011. ETHICS AND PROFESSIONALISM SEMINAR
As always, the luncheon seminar attendees were provided a hearty and tasty buffet luncheon including tantalizing desserts. Alan Pratzel - Chief Disciplinary Counsel - has agreed to be a presenter next year in June 2011, for what we believe will become an annual ethics and professionalism CLE luncheon. 400 people attended this year's Annual Picnic at the Corporate Pavilion
in Shaw Park.. Great food, fabulous attendance prizes, give-aways,
karaoke, snow cones and refreshments.
On
June 24, 2010, over 150 lawyers attended the Ethics and Professionalism
CLE Luncheon. Alan D. Pratzel - Chief Disciplinary Counsel, and Kelly
Dillon - Paralegal/Investigator with the Office of Chief Disciplinary
Counsel, gave outstanding presentations that included what you need to
know about your attorney trust accounts, the ethics of social networking
cites and electronic transmissions, and a case law update. Tom Lang -
Chair of the Missouri Bar Professionalism Committee & Council -
encouraged those in attendance to stand up and be proud of our noble
profession.
