PICNIC 2011 ANOTHER SUCCESS EVEN THE RAIN COULD NOT DAMPEN OUR SPIRITS
Approximately
300 people braved the rain and attended this year's Annual Picnic at the
Corporate Pavilion in Shaw Park. Great food, fabulous attendance prizes,
giveaways, karaoke, snow cones and refreshments.
The Annual Bar Plan Softball Game was
rained out so we will have to wait until next year to see who is
victorious. Both coaches were chomping at the bit to play but the hard
rain, which did not last long, unfortunately made the fields unplayable.
The picnic was once again a resounding
success because of the support, work, and contributions of so many.
Thanks to all of you who contributed and all those dedicated picnic
attendees who braved the weather. It takes a lot more then a little rain
to dampen our spirit and keep us away from having a good time.
A special thanks goes out to all of the
judges, court clerks, court personnel, support staff, deputy sheriff's,
sheriff's department, and security at the courthouse. Without YOU, the
wheels of justice would come to a screeching halt.
After the first of the year, start
looking for and marking down the date for the picnic in June 2012 and we
will be checking the Farmers Almanac! Click

Habitat for Humanity
On
Saturday May 7, 2011 the St. Louis County Bar Association had a group of
10 participate in the volunteer program for Habitat for Humanity. Those
selfless members consisted of Mark Ellebrecht who organized this event,
Judge Douglas Beach who is a Past-President of the St. Louis County Bar,
his wife Debbie Henry and their daughter Kate who is a St. Louis
University Law Student. We also had Tom Lang who is President of the St.
Louis County Bar and Jamie Boock and Paul Rechenberg who are on the
Executive Committee. Jim Robinson a Past-President of the St. Louis
County Bar and an energetic Chelsea Peter. The St. Louis County Bar
Association also presented a $2,000.00 check from our Trivia Night to
Jacinta Witherspoon who is the Volunteer Services Manager for Habitat
for Humanity. It was a very rewarding experience with lots of hard work
and a great deal accomplished. It is amazing how much you can get done
when you have a group of hard workers with lots of determination. We all
left with parts intact and finding out we had some muscles in places
that we didn't know we had. I want to thank all those great people that
I listed above for donating their Saturday to help us make a
family'swish for a new home come true. And on behalf of the St. Louis
County Bar Association I want to wish the family who will be living in
house 21 lots of happy times in their new home for many years to come.
