ST. FRANCIS COMMUNITY SERVICES (SFCS), an agency of Catholic Charities of St. Louis, assists 3,500+ impoverished and marginalized individuals throughout our region each year at four service locations, with programs focused in the areas of legal aid, case management and immigrant services.
SFCS is seeking a full-time staff attorney at our Catholic Legal Assistance Ministry (CLAM) program to assist with the legal needs of clients in our Veterans Advocacy Project. This staff attorney will provide legal representation at no cost to veterans who are low-income, homeless or at risk of homelessness. Resolving legal matters helps veterans overcome barriers which prevent them from exiting poverty, accessing shelter or housing, obtaining employment, obtaining a driver’s license and reuniting with family and children.
This is a full-time, salaried position with benefits. The staff attorney reports to the Managing Attorney at SFCS Catholic Legal Assistance Ministry. Salary is negotiable, depending on experience.
Qualifications: • Required: A Missouri law license and a member in good standing with the Missouri Bar. • Excellent written and oral communication skills. • A desire and commitment to provide high quality legal assistance to low income veterans primarily in the areas of municipal law, housing law and family law. • Veterans, military background or prior experience working with Veterans preferred.
